Dyslexia

 

"Dyslexia" means a disorder of constitutional origin manifested by difficulty learning to read, write, or spell, despite conventional instruction, adequate intelligence, and sociocultural opportunity.

If your child is having difficulties in the areas of language (reading, writing, and spelling) and exhibits some of the characteristics listed, please contact your child’s teacher.

Many students with dyslexia will exhibit difficulty in some, but not all, of the following areas:

A committee of informed educators makes decisions about dyslexia assessment, identification, and placement into the most appropriate educational setting. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend the committee meeting concerning their child. Project Read is the district dyslexia program that is an option for students identified with dyslexic tendencies.
